The Metal Community Unites to Mourn the Godfather of Metal: Rest In Peace Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne is unarguably the most influential front-man of Metal. His career spanned nearly six decades. His presence, songwriting, stature, personality, and lightness in the dark are immeasurable. There are not enough words to quantify the impact of this incredible human being and musician. Ozzy gave us what we know as Heavy Metal. He and his equally talented band mates of Black Sabbath forged a counter culture that forever changed music. Ozzy and Black Sabbath created a new level of cathartic music for people to relate to around the world. They brought people from different faiths, races, cultures, and everyone in between together with music alone. They created a cerebral, soulful, dark, moody, and technical music that will live on in a multitude of ways. That is the ultimate power of Heavy Metal and Ozzy Osbourne’s enduring legacy. I don’t have to explain or try to put his entire career on paper. Everyone knows the incredible music of Ozzy and Black Sabbath. Losing Ozzy just two weeks after the Black Sabbath farewell show is the most difficult thing Heavy Metal has ever experienced. I have never mourned a public figure like this. I cannot describe the feelings. It is a mix of distraught, grief, and hope for the future of Metal. I hope that his passing is a wake up for all of us to return to what really matters, and that is spreading hope, light, and love like Ozzy tried to do with everything he did.

On Tuesday, when the news of Ozzy’s passing officially came out, the Rock and Metal community came together like never before. I feel closer than ever to the Metal community. Regardless of your taste or generation, it seems we can all agree Ozzy Osbourne is an absolute legend forever. Below are some of the most poignant posts about Ozzy Osbourne and his immeasurable legacy. These posts helped restore my faith in humanity. I hope they do the same for you.

Check on your Metal friends this week, because all of us are hurting.

Please comment a cool memory or something about Ozzy below. I would love to hear how he impacted you individually.

Interactive Video: Best Rock and Metal Albums of 2024

Hello all, I’ve been inactive on here for several months now, pursuing other ventures. One of them is my Youtube content, which I have been working on diligently. So to try something different this year, I made my Favorite album of the year list into an interactive video. It’s sort of reminiscent (or at least a homage to) of the old “Pop up videos” on VH1 that I loved to watch as a kid and even into my teens. I am desperately trying to get away from being a critic, and being more personal and educational about Metal. I just don’t want to be another opinion on the internet. I want to connect with people. I want to break barriers and stereotypes within the metal community. I want to abolish elitism in Metal. The true goal of my content is to share with people my music discoveries, not to critique albums. I really dislike reviewing and reading reviews. This “ErinMetal” channel allows me to be myself and share the amazing new Renaissance of Music that we’ve entered in the past decade.

There’s so much yet to be discovered outside of the mainstream music, and I will continue to share what I find. Please check out my “Favorite Rock and Metal Albums of 2024” countdown video below. And, I want to know your favorite albums of the year as well! Thank you so much for reading, watching, and interacting with my content. I want to grow this into an inclusive community, and you can be a part of that.
